API greatly appreciates all of its volunteers and our limited staff relies on them to help us accomplish our mission of educating and supporting parents seeking to have healthy, long-lasting connections with their children.
Some of the positions available require a minimal amount of time, whereas others require a bit more. If you have specific skills that you feel would complement our teams nicely but do not see them listed, please feel free to e-mail the Team Manager to discuss possibilities. These lists are by no means exhaustive, but list some primary, immediate needs we have now.

Headquarters Staff Volunteer Positions
The API Headquarter (HQ) Support Team works together to offer additional support to staff, leaders, and members in a variety of ways.

- Copywriters - API is looking for individuals interested in writing documents on behalf of Headquarters. Staff members will provide the history behind the documents needed, and the copywriters will submit the documents to staff members for review. The copyediting team will then finalize the documents and submit them to staff for distribution. Time commitment will be minimal and sporadic.
- Spanish Translator - This position is open to leaders or members who write or speak Spanish fluently and would like to help API translate various documents so that Spanish-speaking API members, API leaders, and the public will benefit from our resources and support.
- Sales Coordinator - The individual that fills this position will manage and maintain API's online shopping cart, adding inventory items, tracking sales, and reporting them to the Team Manager.
Note: This coordinator is not expected to ship store items. - Retail Affiliate Coordinator - This coordinator would work with AP supportive individuals and businesses to establish a mutually beneficial relationship through our retail affiliate program. This program will ultimately give businesses additional exposure while assisting API with an additional source of revenue.
Member Support Volunteer Positions
Return to TopThe Member Support Team further extends the hand of support to API Members and interested members of the public via phone and e-mail. This Team is important for ensuring that our members receive quality support.

- Info Team Coordinator - This volunteer would work with Info Team members to help with the task of replying to inbound HQ email/phone parent support inquiries. They will also turn email responses in to member support FAQs for our Web site.
Note: Available to API Resource or Group Leaders only. - Info Team Email Support Members - API needs Resource or Support Group Leaders to assist Team Members with answering inbound emails. Team Members are on a rotation so that the support offered is balanced.
Note: Available to API Resource or Group Leaders only. - Foreign Language-Speaking E-mail Support Team Members - API would like to have translators to assist Team Members with returning inbound Member Support emails from members who speak or write a foreign language. Time commitment is minimal. Please indicate the language that you are fluent in when you contact the Team Manager.
- Phone Support Team Members - API needs Resource or Support Group Leaders to assist Team Members in returning inbound Member Support phone messages. Team Members are on a rotation so that the support offered is balanced.
Note: *Available to API Resource or Group Leaders only. - Foreign Language-Speaking Phone Support Team Members - API would like to have translators to assist Team Members with returning inbound Member Support phone messages from callers who speak a foreign language. Time commitment is minimal. Please indicate the language that you speak fluently when you contact the Team Manager.
- Parent Support FAQ Team Coordinator - API needs an individual to distribute emails that have previously been answered by Parent Support Phone/Email Members to FAQ Team Members. Those FAQ Team Members will make the FAQs anonymous and concise and will return them back to the person that fills this position. This Coordinator will then place new, previously reviewed FAQs onto our web site. The computer program we use is simple and the work goes quickly.
Note: Available to API Resource or Group Leaders only. - Parent Support FAQ Team Member - When Headquarters receives questions from parents, they are created into anonymous Web site FAQs so that additional parents can gain further insight and knowledge on various AP topics. We need leaders to review previously answered emails to make them anonymous and concise. They will then be shared with a copyeditor and placed on our web site by the Parent Support FAQ Coordinator.

Marketing Team
Return to TopThe Marketing Team is comprised of people dedicated to promoting Attachment Parenting and API around the world. Team members work together in a variety of ways, including researching and contacting the most appropriate people and businesses for API to advertise with, creating and editing fabulous materials to promote our organization, and sharing information with media and publication outlets.

- Publicity Team Members - We need individuals to help us write press releases and work in other public relations efforts. Time requirements will be sporadic. This position is very important for getting the word out about API, spreading the news about attachment theory in response to unattached research or findings (such as the recent crib recall), and changes in API staff.
- Research Coordinator, Publicity Team - We need a person to maintain a spreadsheet of national parenting publications that we can send press releases to. This would require researching publications’ mailing and email addresses and updating after each press release goes out by correcting any bounced e-mails. This commitment will involve more time initially, but less once the database is established. No marketing or public relations experience required.
- Copywriters - We need individuals to create and write marketing communications projects. Examples include writing copy for a flyer, brochure, or postcard. Time commitment will be minimal and sporadic.
- Copyeditors - We currently need individuals to edit documents used for marketing and publicity. Time commitment will be minimal and sporadic.
- Graphic Designer - We need excellent graphic designers who are able to create professional-level collateral material. With an upcoming logo change, we need to maintain a professional image for our great organization. This would entail working with the Marketing Team Manager and copywriters in gathering and recognizing new graphic design projects.
- Advertising Assistant - This person would fill the role of the Advertising Manager's Assistant by proactively procuring new advertising accounts for the Journal of API and API Links. No marketing or advertising experience required, but sales experience is extremely helpful.
Publications
Return to TopOur Publications Team is dedicated to producing stellar publications that convey the importance of attachment, share the science behind attachment theory, and offer continual support to attachment parents.

- Connections Editor - API is looking for a volunteer dedicated to furthering the support API Leaders receive from Headquarters. This individual will solicit and compile material for electronic publication, which will inspire and support leaders as they seek to inspire and support their group members. Connections will be distributed each quarter once API has a volunteer Connections editor in place.
Note: Available to API Resource or Group Leaders only. - Connections Copyeditors - We need individuals willing to edit our e-newsletter Connections before its distribution. This newsletter is created specifically for API Leaders and will be distributed each quarter once API has a volunteer Connections editor in place.
- Connections Graphic Designer - If you are creative and have experience with graphic design, this position may be the right fit for you. We are seeking a graphic designer to work on the layout and visual presentation of our quarterly e-newsletter, Connections, which is specifically written for API Leaders. We will resume this publication as soon as we have a volunteer editor in place.
- Journal Copyeditors - We need individuals willing to edit our quarterly publication, The Journal of API before its distribution. This publication is created specifically for members of API and will be distributed quarterly.
- "For the Children" Coordinator - Would you like to help families strengthen their attachments through play? The Journal of API will be featuring items in each issue that help children learn empathy, to express feelings, or to resolve conflicts through play. If you are interested in collecting ideas sent from API Leaders and members for inclusion in the Journal, please contact Rita Brhel.

Development Team
Return to TopThe HQ Development Team is comprised of a Development Coordinator, Assistant Grant Writers, and Team Members who focus on raising funds for API's short- and long-term viability.

- Event Coordinator - An Event Coordinator will coordinate and carry out events that bring awareness and publicity to API. Experience coordinating major events is highly preferred.
- Fundraising Coordinator - API is in need of a Fundraising Coordinator dedicated to helping API raise funds for short- and long-term funding. This individual will research fundraising ideas, present them to the Development Team, document and distribute ideas to staff and leaders, and manage a fundraising team who will carry the event through to its completion.
- Fundraising Team Members - HQ Fundraising Team Members will work directly with the Fundraising Coordinator to create fun and exciting ways to help API HQ raise funds. These members will work on all aspects of each fundraiser as needed. Time commitments vary from event to event.
- Grant Writers - API is in immediate need of experienced grant writers to investigate and apply for grants to help support our organization. We have individuals eager to assist with the grant writing process if they are given experienced direction.
- Journal Grant Program Coordinator - We have recently launched our Journal Grant Program and are in need of a coordinator to record incoming applications, submit them to API's Executive Director, and keep track of approved applicants so that their packages will be mailed to them in a timely manner.
Note: This coordinator will not be in charge of shipments.
Online Forums Team
Return to TopThe Online Forum Team is comprised of a Forum Administrator, Senior Moderators, and Junior Moderators. This team will provide a friendly forum for parents, leaders, and interested members of the public to discuss Attachment Parenting (AP) and topics that relate to the Eight Principles of Attachment Parenting.

- Senior Moderator - API is in need of a handful of people to be our online Senior Moderators. These people will also work with our Forum Administrator and Junior Moderators to keep the forum a fun, friendly place for parents, leaders, and interested members of the public to discuss Attachment Parenting (AP) and topics that relate to the Eight Principles of Attachment Parenting. They will accomplish this by clarifying APIÕs stance and position on Attachment Parenting practices and by occasionally posting to threads. Note: Senior Moderators must be API Leaders.
- Junior Moderator - API is in need of a handful of people to be our online Junior Moderators. These people will also work with our Administrator and Senior Moderators to keep the forum a fun, friendly place for parents, leaders, and interested members of the public to discuss Attachment Parenting (AP) and topics that relate to the Eight Principles of Attachment Parenting. Junior Moderators will accomplish this by notifying Senior Moderators of posts that need clarification on APIÕs stance and position on Attachment Parenting practices and by occasionally posting to threads. Note: Junior Moderators can be API Leaders or Members who have recommendations from their API Support Group Leaders.
Technology Team
Return to TopOur Technology Team is dedicated to ensuring that API is using the best form of online technology to support and educate API Members and the general public. This team also maintains our Web site and other online programs that API uses.

- Web Developer - API has an ongoing need for experienced web developers to work on upcoming projects on an as needed basis. Experience with PHP and/or multimedia technologies a plus.
- AP-friendly Bloggers - API's new blog, API Speaks, is seeking contributing editors to post on topics relevant to the Eight Principles of Attachment Parenting. Monthly or bi-weekly post options are available. Please include a link to your blog in your email.
